Situated in the heart of the Swartland, lies the town of Malmesbury. The name “Swartland” is derived from the black colour of the indigenous Renosterveld vegetation during the hot summer months. A kaleidoscope of colours, bright blue skies, golden wheat fields, hills overgrown with sunny yellow canola and green vineyards will greet the tourist.
The town boasts the country’s oldest milling company, Bokomo, which is ninety years old. The sandy, marsh and Renosterveld vegetation erupts with spring flowers from June through September and can be enjoyed in all their splendour in the surrounding region. Keen golfers can look forward to the exciting new 18-hole competition golf course and country estate, which will soon grace the northern skyline of the town.
For the enthusiastic sportsmen there are 4x4 trails, game and nature drives, clay pigeon shooting and mountain bike rides.
Enjoy the beauty and unique character of this part of the Western Cape. Malmesbury offers visitors diverse sporting activities, mountain bike trails, 4x4 routes, hiking trails and the shady 9-hole golf course offering players a spectacular view of Table Mountain.
